Had twelve children. Seven were alive at the time of her de ath. (Ben, Troy, and Earl's twin were already deceased, bu t there has never been any mention of the other two).
Left KY in 1888 and moved to Texas. Moved to Ardmore OK are a in 1893. Moved to
Hastings OK in 1907.
During World War One Maggie and Jonathan sold mules to th e U.S. Army. They would raise them and when ready clip the ir manes and tails to get them ready for sale. Maggie woul d participate in the roundup. Her great -grandson Jim Smit h has the side saddle that belonged to Maggie from this tim e. John Chester Smith Sr. told of watching him Mom ridin g out across the pastures on her hose riding side saddle an d she rode it "light as a fly in the saddle." This took pl ace on their homestead at Springer, Oklahoma.
J.D. Smith has told us that Maggie's parents owned a Genera l Store in Clinton County, Kentucky. When Jonathan and Mag gie were married they gave them a nice set of dishes from t heir store. J.D. remembers when dining at Maggie's home i n Hastings, Oklahoma that she would set out this dish war e on nice occasions. He can still remember the floral prin t on the dishes. The amazing thing is that these dishes su rvived the migration of Maggie from Kentucky to Texas and t hen to Springer and Hastings
